More of a microtrend really, but I’m spotting these everywhere and am quite intrigued by it. When I say ‘collage’ I mean part of the design being sewn/appliqued on top of the design, not just printed entirely. It’s commonly bows but I’m seeing leather patches for hats etc being used as well. Lanvin for H&M is where I spotted it first, maybe it’s stemmed from that?
Here you can see they’ve used real bows for the bows round the legs and eyebrows, and actual tutu netting for the tutu round the skirt/neck. Love it; it adds a new dimension to the printed t-shirt. It has that collage/pop art feel to it, things being stuck on over a drawing, so the t-shirt is like a canvas.
This is cool, with the pencil sketch and the attachment of the real bow. There’s also this one from Zara;
Happy Faces and Shoes Long T-shirt £14.99
Bershka have got some brilliant examples but their website is so annoying; they only show full outfits and not the details of the individual clothes, so I can’t show you. I should have taken photos while I was out I suppose; I assumed they’d have shots online. Anyway they have lots of t-shirts with applique leather detail, chains, bows, the lot. It’s nice.
I’ll keep a watch out, I’m quite enjoying this attention to detail so hopefully it continues!
