This one’s a good ‘un. Orla Kiely is a brilliant textile and pattern designer, and when I discovered this via DisneyRollrGirl I had to post about it. I’m quite surprised she hasn’t done a book before this.

Pattern by Orla Kiely on Amazon.
Her style is immediately recognisable -  “her unique design language and sure sense of graphic control has seen her label become a hugely successful global brand in the decade since its launch. From her early signature bags, the collection has grown to include a complete womenswear line, accessories, travel and homeware, sold in shops and outlets worldwide. Giving a personal account of what informs her work and inspires her designs, Orla looks at pattern in all its manifestations – the impact of scale and proportion, rhythm and texture and the all-important dimension of color.”

Basically, she’s queen of making print work. And that’s bloody hard, trust me – I have to do the odd repeat print for work and it’s generally more miss than hit. There’s definitely an art form in colour and shape that she has nailed.

What’s great is that she’ll be in Selfridges, Oxford St on 10th November from 6pm, signing copies of the book, Pattern. I’d love to make it down – but am going to an AOI event that night. Ah, the life of a high flying Londoner.*

*Not actually high flying. Or flying at all. Actually more like drowning. But I can pretend I’m a socialite, and that’s OK for now.
