This is one of those books that you see immediately and know you want it without even looking inside an actual version of it.
I discovered it via Style Bubble (she’s on to a lot of good things recently, I’m loving her recent posts) and want this very very much. Cecil Beaton, if you’re unaware, was a fashion and portrait photographer as well as an interior designer and stage and costume designer, 1904-1980. He was a bit of an icon and extremely prolific.
The book is out on November 22, with an Introduction by James Danziger. It’s pretty special; cloth overboard with slipcase – and $250. I know. This is why it’s a Coveted item and I will never own it :( I’m not entirely sure why it’s so much… it’s 400 pages granted, and the slipcase etc is nice… are they coming out with a normal version in the future? I hope so. Check it out on Assouline’s website here.
Just looking at these images has inspired me to start keeping a scrapbook/sketchbook again. I used to do it all the time at Uni (obviously) but now just… don’t. And I must! So I will. I’ll think about how it’ll work a bit more then see how it goes.
Lovely.

His sketchbooks already inspired an interiors fabric collection, check out the site, with a new collection due to launch autumn 2011

Very nice indeed, I’m a big scrapbook/sketchbook fan.
I always love creating moodboards as well, to the extent of spending too much time on them compared to the final product.
