I don’t really mention it all that often but my day job is Graphic Designer at Yumi/Uttam Boutiqe. I design all the POS for the stores and concessions nationwide, the lookbooks, posters, as well as the website graphics, assist on garment designs and also run the blog and facebook and twitter pages along with the web content editor. It’s a busy, hectic job but I enjoy it, especially when the fruits of my labour get let out into the open. One of the very first jobs I had to work on in my first few days was designing the Yumi AW10 lookbook. And here it is:
I’m genuinely excited about the AW collection, there’s so much of it and it encapsulates the season so well, the designers have really done a great job.
This faux fur coat is going to be huge – I’m so excited for it. The photoshoot was great and the collection is massive this season; with new pieces getting put in production all the time! I can’t show much more than this, until it drops, but I designed all the Trend Boards for AW10 – they encapsulate the key Aw10 trends and I’m really proud of them. I’ll post them in the next few days :)
I’ll do a big AW post soon, with all the things I’m coveting from the high street and the trends they encompass; got my birthday money to spend so that’ll be useful!
If any bloggers would like a copy of the AW10 Yumi & Uttam lookbooks then just email press [at] uttamlondon.com, we’ll sort you out :)

Heh thanks! It is quite good… extremely fast paced and stressful though; as is any job working in fashion. But definitely lucky to do what I do, and have such free rein and variety in my job.
Yeah, the high street has a lot of really good faux fur at the mo… pricey… if you can find a vintage one, its like gold dust. I wear my mum’s faux fur one that she had in the 70s; its amazing. Gonna whip it out again this year! xx

I like Yumi stuff, just a pity I can’t always afford it! Also, so great that you work in London now but are you commuting or living down there? I’d love to meet you properly one of these days rather than that one time we kind of looked at each other when I was working at Oasis….both thinking we looked familiar!! Haha.

Yeah it can be a bit pricey… I recommend buying it online mostly, there’s always deals on! I’m originally from Bedfordshire so have moved back down there with my parents and commute into London everyday – it’s a 2 hour journey each way :( Not fun. So I’m moving to East London in September…. so exciting! Can’t wait, I’ll be able to get up at a reasonable time!
Haha I know, that was very weird but funny :P xx
